What is FLL?
In the 8-week FLL build season, students in grades 4-8 design, construct and program a Lego Mindstorms (c) robot for the current year's game challenge and develop a creative solution to a real world problem.
This competition is a wonderful introduction to robotics for students in grades 4 - 8, as well as a fantastic way of introducing the students to solving problems in the world that they didn’t know existed.
The cost to register an FLL team is $225 along with the $75 cost for the field setup for that year.
Teams must also have an NXT or EV3 Lego Mindstorm robot to compete which must be purchased separately. Each team must have at least one NXT or EV3 "brain" but can add as any Mindstorm or Technic components as they like. Amazon and Ebay are great places to find new and used components.
You can find more specific cost details and other package options here and you can begin the registration process here. For detailed instructions and more information, watch the slide presentation below.
